Recce 2 - Playground/Park

Location Address - King George's Park, Aspley, Nottingham

Date - 29th Nov 15:00pm

General description:  There were many parks for us to choose from for our second chorus but this seemed the most efficient because the amount of space and apparatus for the band to use meaning there will be a lot of varied shots. There are many different height levels within the park which will re-enforce the variation of shots. The only downside is that it is a public park and there may be a lot of people around when we need to shoot, especially children and they can be a really big problem.

Power Supply: NO

Lighting:  During the day, the site will be well lit but if the shoot drags on then it could become dark very quickly, especially at this time of the year so we will have to plan this shoot very carefully. We are unable to use extra lighting due to the lack of power supply.

Sound and Noise: There may be a lot of background noise because of the publicity of the location but it depends on the day, there may not be anyone around but despite this, background noise shouldn't be much of a distraction because it won't be heard in the music video but it could affect whether they are singing along to the track correctly.

Health and Safety: There will be minimal trip hazards because of the wide area of space but we just need to ensure that they are safe while on the apparatus or they could be seriously injured if they are not sensible.

Site Evaluation:

Suitability: 9/10
Public Usage: 5/10

Recce 1 - Garage

Location Address - 24 Park Avenue, Hucknall, Nottingham, NG15 6LQ

Date - 22nd Nov 18:00pm

General description:  This is the garage that we will be using for the first chorus of our song. There is no public usage because one of the band members owns it. It is spacious and there is enough room to fit the whole band,  the lighting and the production team so there will be opportunity to get a range of different shots, movements and angles. There is room for improvement though as it is a bit bland but we aim to decorate it in generic punk colours to make it look more interesting and appealing to the viewer.

Power Supply: YES

Lighting:  The site it lit very well as you can see from the pictures but for our video, it seems too bright so we hope to bring it halogen lights with coloured gels to make it more colourful and interesting so extra lighting is required.

Sound and Noise: There shouldn't be any background noise at all because the location is at someone's house. Noise will not affect the shoot because no noise is heard in the video.

Health and Safety: Cords from the guitars may be a problem but this may not be resolved as they will need to be free flowing in order for the members to move around but there shouldn't be any power lines or wires in the way. If this is the case then they can be taped down. The carpets on the floor could be potential trip hazards but these can be removes or taped down. Despite these factors, it is a very safe location.

Charlotte Slater - Summer Hwk

Activity One: Music Video Analysis

The elements that lady gaga uses have changed as she has progressed as an artist, the first album is better known for her bleached blond hair with a full fringe, hair bows, skimpy clothes and the lightening bolt on the face. Such as in poker face
e

The second album shes made her self more freaky and out rageous with short hair styled in weird ways and the costumes are still skimpy but very weird and unusual such as the bad romance video with people coming out of boxes and having flaming boobs

The third album born this way has gone fiull out to shock her audience because it what they have grown to expect from her and she has never failed to disappoint in you and I she dresses up as a man and kisses herself showing a love affair between herself

Shes a pop artist but as she progress they become less pop and transform in to a mix of genres so there never a really pin pointed genre , this is what set her apart from other artists, she doesn't just go for the glam, she creates weird narratives that set her apart from the others as each one become more fascinating than then next
She is generic due to the fact she had the massive group dance routines, and sings right into the camera which shows that she is predominantly pop
The film style hasn't really changed chopping form dance routines to narrative to more performance itself but she has always been consistent on making a performance some thing that you'll never forget.
her conventional costumes are the same but different, each one is weird, but brilliant ant the same time
her editing and camera style

Activity Two: Part One:

Digipak Cover Research

Blink 182:
Both digipaks are bright and colourful, following the conventions of the pop punk genre. This makes the digipaks very appropriate for the genre and will fit with what the audience expect. The top CD for Blink 182 has a cartoon version of the band members on it, this has a creative  effect on the CD and is visually appealing for the audience.  Both covers of the digipaks are busy and have the same basic idea of being colourful and have a cartoon effect.

 New Found Glory:
The CD and cover are relatively colourful which follows the conventions of the pop punk genre.  The CD itself has a contrast of blue and yellow which makes the CD stand out and establishes what the album is called. The front cover has a photo of 2 of the band members what seems like are play fighting. This is appropriate as its what the audience expect from the genre and for how the band to behave like as pop punk is such a care free and comical genre.
Green Day:
The CD and cover have a large contract of black and green. This follows the conventions of the pop punk genre as it is bright and is visually pleasing. There is also a picture of the band behind the CD. This establishes the band and makes it interesting for the audience.

Sum 41:
The CD and cover have a contrast of black and pink this follows the conventions of the pop punk genre as it catches the audiences attention due to it being bright and it is visually pleasing. However there are no picture of the band that you can see and it does seem a little dull for a pop punk band digipak.
